The PSS Shaft Seal is a leading mechanical face seal designed to replace traditional packing glands, providing a 100% watertight seal that eliminates constant adjustment and maintenance. This marine-grade seal utilizes a rotating stainless steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange to maintain contact and accommodate propeller thrust, while its floating design helps compensate for shaft misalignment and vibration.

The system seals the stainless steel rotor to the shaft using two internal o-rings that rotate with the assembly, preventing wear during operation. As a preventative maintenance measure, it is recommended that the bellows be replaced every six years, along with the o-rings and set screws. Please note that rubber bellows must be inspected regularly for signs of wear, aging, or chemical deterioration, particularly in environments exposed to sulfuric acid vapors or ozone.
